BAPE Shark Full-Zip Double Hood Glow-in-the-Dark City Camo Hoodie

Two Versions of the Same Jacket. One of Them Only Exists After Dark.

The glow-in-the-dark finish changes the calculus of this piece entirely. In daylight, both colourways read as subdued: the White is pale grey camo on a white base, near-monochrome, quieter than almost anything else in the collection; the Gray is the classic BAPE City Camo in black, charcoal, and white, high contrast but working within a neutral register. Neither is the loudest thing in a room during the day. After dark, the camo patches absorb ambient light and re-emit it — the grey patches on White glow against the pale base, and the white patches on Gray emerge out of the dark ground like the camo was always there, waiting for the light to leave. The shark face, which was already a transformation mechanism, now operates in a second dimension: zipped up in a dark room or under UV, the jacket becomes something different again.

The City Camo pattern used here is distinct from the ABC Forest Camo on the rest of the collection. Where ABC Camo was created by BAPE and has no military source, City Camo translates the camouflage logic into an urban environment: the palette is concrete, tarmac, and shadow — grey, near-black, and white — the colours of what a city actually looks like when you look at it without colour. The pattern uses the same organic blob shapes as ABC Camo but applies them in a tonal system calibrated for built environments rather than natural ones. In neither case does the camo actually conceal anything. In both cases, that is the point.

Two Colourways — Two Experiences of the Same Effect

• White: white base; mid-grey and pale-grey City Camo patches; near-monochrome in daylight, the quietest colourway in the collection; glow patches emit against the pale base in darkness, creating maximum contrast between the luminous and non-luminous areas; white ribbing at cuffs and hem; the piece that changes the most between day and night
• Gray: near-black base; deep charcoal, mid-grey, and white City Camo patches; high contrast in daylight; in darkness, white patches glow and appear to float against the black ground; black ribbing; the most visually dramatic at night and the most coherent as a City Camo statement in daylight
