"Ape Shall Never Kill Ape" is not a slogan BAPE invented — it comes from Planet of the Apes, the 1968 film that gave the brand its name, its ape, and its founding philosophy. Nigo built A Bathing Ape on this sentence. It's the brand's original law: solidarity, loyalty, the idea that those who share an identity do not turn against each other. For SS25, the phrase gets its most direct treatment yet. Five lines of heavy stacked type fill the entire chest: APE / SHALL / NEVER / KILL / APE. The Ape Head is present, but ghosted — semi-transparent, layered behind the letterforms, visible in the gaps between the words if you look for it. The typeface and print carry deliberate imperfection: brushstroke edges, ink breaks, splatter marks, the texture of a stencil that's been used many times. Street-printed, worn-in, urgent. On White, the letters print in red against the clean base — with the Ape Head overlaid in black, the palette hits like a protest poster, declarative and hard to miss. On Black, the letters shift to grey, the Ape Head to white — the same message rendered at lower temperature, closer to industrial or post-punk, the urgency still there but internalised. 280gsm linen-cotton blend fabric, oversized fit, SS25 drop.
