The One That Started It.

Before the camouflage patterns, before the collaborations, before the Shark hoodie — there was the College Tee. "A Bathing" arching above in varsity type, the Ape Head centred, "APE" grounding below: a graphic composition that arrived in the early 1990s out of Ura-Harajuku and has not required revision since. For SS25, the design returns across four colourways, each carrying the same layout with a colour treatment calibrated to the base. On Navy, the white arch lettering and brown Ape Head with yellow eyes sit at maximum contrast against the dark ground — the most legible version of the design, readable at distance. On White, black type and the same brown Ape Head deliver the clean, unmodified original — the version that appears on the earliest archival examples. On Black, the composition mirrors the Navy — white text, brown Ape Head — but the base is darker and the mood shifts from sporty to after-hours. On Beige, the Ape Head is rendered in a deeper purple-brown, and the combination of the warm ecru ground against the darkened figure reads as the most vintage-adjacent of the four; the palette references the natural off-white of aged cotton rather than a coloured base. All four run on a 270gsm linen-cotton blend fabric in an oversized, dropped-shoulder cut. SS25 drop.
