A Stone Island T-shirt in custom double-yarn plain-weave cotton, carrying two 3D flock-print applications in cobalt blue on both the front chest and back panel. The graphic concept — a Stone Island compass rose in the act of liquefying and dissolving — is expressed at two very different scales and levels of complexity: a concentrated, abstract melting star icon at the front, and a fully realised, large-format melting circular badge at the back. Across both colourways (White and Black), the flock print colour is identical: a single flat cobalt blue, producing maximum chromatic contrast against both the white and black cotton grounds.

Front Chest Print — Melting Four-Point Spike Star

The front left chest carries a single melting four-point spike star icon, 3D flock-printed in cobalt blue at centre-chest, approximately mid-chest height. The total print height is approximately 8–9 cm.

Star Form: The star has a distinctly different form from Stone Island’s standard compass star — it is a four-point needle star / spike star, with two dominant long vertical arms (north–south axis, extremely elongated and sharply tapered to fine needle points) and two shorter horizontal arms (east–west axis, also sharply tapered). The overall silhouette reads as a sharp, aggressive ✦ form rather than the softer, more symmetrical standard compass rose. The star body is rendered in solid cobalt blue flock.

Melting Detail: The melting effect is concentrated on the right side and lower-centre of the star. From the right horizontal arm’s end and from the star’s central lower body, a liquid melt pool extends rightward and downward: a flat, spread puddle form in cobalt blue from which three to four teardrop drip lines hang downward, each varying in length (approximately 0.8–1.5 cm), terminating in complete teardrop shapes. The left arm, upper arm, and lower arm of the star remain fully intact and sharply clean — the melting is directional, confined to the right and lower-centre, as if the star is selectively dissolving in one direction under gravity.

Flock Surface: The front chest print is the ideal surface to observe the flock technique at close range: the entire cobalt blue print area sits approximately 1–2 mm above the cotton ground, with a clearly tactile raised surface. The flock fibres produce a matte, soft, velvet-like surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, contrasting directly with the smooth, slightly sheen-forward surface of the surrounding cotton ground. Print edges are sharply defined throughout, including at the finest points of the star arms and the tips of the individual teardrop drips — the flock process holds the narrow geometry without any fibre bleed or edge softening.

Back Panel Print — Oversized Melting Circular Compass Badge

The full back panel carries the dominant graphic element of the garment: an oversized circular Stone Island compass badge in the process of melting and dissolving, centred on the upper-to-mid back panel and occupying approximately 65–75% of the back panel width. The badge is rendered entirely in cobalt blue flock on the white or black cotton ground, with the badge interior composed of cobalt blue outline structures against a white (or black) fill — producing a two-tone cobalt-blue-and-ground-colour graphic at every scale.

Circular Frame: The badge is bounded by a thick cobalt blue solid-stroke circle, significantly heavier in line weight than the text-ring border seen on standard Stone Island badge applications. The frame is not a complete circle — the upper-right quadrant of the circle frame is breached, with a gap through which liquid cobalt blue material is escaping outward. This breach point is where the primary melting dissolution event originates.

Text Ring — Melting Bubble Letterforms: Within the circular frame, the standard Stone Island text band runs along the upper half and lower half of the interior circumference: STONE ISLAND arcing along the upper half (reading left to right) and STONE ISLAND along the lower half (reading right to left, rotated 180°). However, in this version the letterforms are set in a rounded, inflated, bubble-style typeface (rounded corners on every stroke, swollen counter spaces, generous letter width) — a deliberate departure from the standard compact block serif used on Stone Island’s classic badge. Each letter is rendered as a cobalt blue outline / hollow form: a thick cobalt blue stroke boundary with a white (or black, on the Black colourway) interior fill. In the melting zone (right side), the text letterforms are further distorted and bent, their outlines warping and flowing in the direction of the melt, so that individual letters lose their geometric regularity and begin to read as liquid forms.

Centre — Classic Compass Star: The interior of the text ring is occupied by the standard Stone Island four-point compass star (two dominant long arms on the vertical axis, two shorter arms on the horizontal axis, all tapering to sharp points) — notably, this is the standard compass star form, not the needle-spike variant used on the front chest print. The compass star is rendered in solid cobalt blue flock fill, clean and sharp in the intact quadrants.

Melt Zone — Dissolving Right-Side Blob: The defining visual event of the back print is the large liquid melt mass extending from the right side of the circular badge. Beginning at the breach in the upper-right of the circular frame, a substantial organic blob of liquid cobalt blue material has escaped the circle and spread rightward and downward, extending approximately 3–4 cm beyond the circular boundary. The blob has an irregular, fluid organic outline (rendered in cobalt blue stroke, white fill interior, matching the hollow letterform treatment of the text ring), and its perimeter is not smooth — it carries wave-like undulations consistent with a liquid in motion. From the lower edge and sides of this blob, two to three narrow drip lines extend further downward, each terminating in small teardrop or elongated drop forms. The overall right-side melt mass occupies a substantial area of the back panel to the right of the circle, and its visual weight is significant enough that the badge reads as asymmetric and dynamic rather than centred and stable.

Fabric

The body is constructed in a custom double-yarn plain-weave cotton. The fabric exterior is extremely smooth, high-density, and composed, with a slight optical sheen and near-zero visible surface texture. The fabric is a rigid, non-stretchy plain-weave structure, providing a completely stable flat ground for the flock print — no stretch or movement in the fabric that would stress or crack the flock surface over time. The fabric sits in the mid-to-upper weight range for a summer T-shirt, with a body-forward drape that reads as deliberate and polished.

The contrast between the smooth, light-reflective cotton surface and the matte, light-absorbing flock print surface is one of the defining sensory qualities of the garment: at close range, the cobalt blue flock areas and the white cotton ground produce a clearly distinct tactile and optical differentiation, with the flock graphic appearing to sit as a discrete, raised material object on the fabric surface.

Construction Details

The crew neckline is finished with a ribbed neckband, approximately 2 cm wide, with clearly defined vertical rib structure. The rear neckline carries a woven Stone Island label — rectangular white label, compass star at left, “STONE ISLAND” wordmark in all-caps. Clean narrow hems at sleeve openings and body hem. No side slit. Regular-to-relaxed fit.
