Metallic Nylon. Not Cotton. Not Fleece.

The fabric is the first thing to understand about this short. It is a metallic nylon — a woven synthetic with a built-in optical quality that catches and reflects ambient light across its surface. In the Gray colourway this reads most clearly: a pale silver-grey ground with a low, diffused sheen that shifts with movement and light angle, giving the fabric a surface presence that plain cotton or fleece cannot replicate. The Black colourway carries the same metallic nylon construction, its lustre more contained against the deep ground, reading as a rich surface weight rather than a visible shine.

The silhouette is a relaxed above-knee cargo short. Elasticated waistband with a drawcord tie — the waistband sits structured on the body, with the drawcord functional at the front. The length falls slightly above the knee, proportioned for wear over longer underlayers or standalone. The hem is finished with a clean inward roll: a turned-up cuff of approximately 2–3 cm that creates a deliberate detail at the hem edge rather than a raw or hemmed finish.

Two graphic elements are present on this short, both positioned on the right leg:

First, the SI compass rose embroidery — large format, tone-on-tone, worked directly into the nylon ground. In Gray the compass rose sits in near-invisible relief against the fabric, readable primarily by shadow and texture rather than colour contrast. In Black it disappears almost entirely, registering only at certain light angles. This is intentional: the embroidery is a structural mark rather than a graphic statement.

Second, and separately, the SI badge on the left leg cargo pocket. A square badge: black ground with the gold compass rose and SI text. In Gray this badge is mounted on a black ground patch with gold hardware details; in Black the same badge reads with a yellow-green compass — a subtle colourway difference across the range. The badge is functional-facing: it is attached to a left-leg cargo-style patch pocket with snap or rivet hardware at the corners.

Gray (Silver-Gray / Light Metallic)

Pale silver-grey ground. The metallic quality of the nylon is most visible in this colourway — the fabric surface carries a diffused, low-level luminosity that reads as a material property rather than a coating. Green

Mid-register green in the same metallic nylon construction. The fabric's sheen reads against the green ground as a slight depth variation — less luminous than Gray but more surface-present than a flat-woven fabric. Tone-on-tone compass embroidery on right thigh. SI badge at left leg cargo pocket.

Black (Deep Navy-Black)

A deep, near-black ground — reading as dark navy-black depending on light conditions. The metallic nylon construction is present but reads as surface weight and richness rather than visible shine. The tone-on-tone compass embroidery is nearly invisible against the dark ground, registering only at direct light angles as a shadow-relief mark. SI badge at left leg with yellow-green compass accent — the sole warm-toned element on the garment. Maximum reduction: all mark-making absorbed by the ground.
