BAPE FW25 Hand-Drawn Graffiti Ape Head T-Shirt - White / Black

The Ape Head, Drawn by Hand. Then Dripped.

Everything on this FW25 T-shirt is rendered in the same hand-drawn register: the Ape Head above, the "BATHING Ape" text below, the drips connecting them. The Ape Head is not the clean vector form that appears on most BAPE graphics -- the outline is irregular, the fill shows brush direction, the edges break apart where the stroke runs dry. On white, the head is executed in heavy black, the kind of mark left by a wide brush loaded with paint rather than a screen-printing squeegee. From the base of the Ape Head, multiple vertical drip lines run down into the text zone -- long, thin, deliberate drips that were either part of the original drawing or added as a separate gesture. Either way they are doing structural work: they connect the portrait above to the lettering below and give the whole composition a sense of downward movement and weight.

The text reads "BATHING" in large block letters with a rectangular border and dense crosshatch shading inside each character -- the kind of fill technique used in graffiti lettering to give flat surfaces the appearance of depth or texture. Below and overlapping: "Ape" in loose cursive, a different tempo from the block letters above it, more relaxed but still consistent with the hand-drawn logic of the whole image. Both are the same two colours as the Ape Head: black on white, white on black.

The black colourway inverts the colour logic and changes the material feel of the marks. Where the white version reads as heavy paint on a clean ground, the black version reads as chalk or white paint on a dark surface -- the strokes are thinner in appearance because the white pigment separating against black creates visible gaps within the brushwork, the texture of the hand showing through more clearly. The drips invert to white as well, reading as lines of light rather than lines of ink.
