The composition is collegiate: "A BATHING" arched across the top, "APE" anchored at the bottom, and the Ape Head silhouette — rendered in clean outline, just the profile and the eye — sitting at the centre where a crest would be. The structure is familiar, the kind of badge format that signals belonging and history. What changes the register entirely is the surface. The letterforms are a heavy slab serif with a built-in three-dimensional shadow, and the fill across the entire graphic — letters and Ape Head alike — is a spray-dye wash: uneven grey gradients moving from deep charcoal to pale silver, as though the crest was stencilled with spray paint and the ink bloomed outward at the edges. The effect sits between aged screen print, metallic paint, and deliberate distress — a badge format that looks like it's already earned some history.
