BAPE SS26 BA Flying Tiger T-Shirt

The Tiger Flies Through the Letters.

The graphic on this T-shirt is built around a single compositional decision: the flying tiger does not sit above or below the letters — it passes through them. The two oversized "BA" letterforms (Bathing Ape) are rendered in solid black on the white T-shirt, solid white on the black T-shirt, in a wide, heavy sans-serif that occupies roughly 60% of the chest width. The flying tiger — an orange-and-black striped tiger with white angel wings — threads through the gap between the B and the A, front paws extending past the left edge of the B, tail clearing the right edge of the A, wings spread open in the space between. The letters are the frame. The tiger is what moves through it.

The tiger faces front, not in profile. The expression is direct and aggressive in a cartoonish register — open mouth, round eyes, a posture that reads as something between attack and flight. The wings are white with warm feather detailing; the body is orange with black stripes and a black outline. On both colourways, the tiger's colour does not change — orange and black on white ground, orange and black on black ground, the latter with a fine white outline separating the tiger from the base. The back is clean on both versions.

"BA" in this context reads simultaneously as an abbreviation and as a graphic object. The letters are large enough that they function as architectural elements rather than text. The tiger animates the space they create. The result is a graphic that rewards more time looking at it than most T-shirt graphics ask for: the first read is the letters, the second read is the tiger, the third is the spatial relationship between the two.
