The Same Pattern, Twice. One in Its Dark State. One in Its Light State.

The City Camo pattern is the same on both halves of this hoodie -- same Ape Head silhouette shapes, same density, same structure. What changes is the ground. The left half runs the pattern on a black ground, with the Ape Head blobs printing in white and light grey: the pattern at maximum contrast, blobs reading as white light against a dark field. The right half runs the same pattern on a white ground, with the blobs printing in grey and warm grey: the same shapes, the same positions in the repeat, in their low-contrast, light-field state. The left is the negative. The right is the positive. Together they form a single garment that shows you both versions of its own pattern simultaneously.

The cuffs and hem band on each side match their half: black ribbed cotton on the left, white ribbed cotton on the right. The split runs through the hood as well -- left half-hood in black City Camo, right half-hood in white City Camo -- and through the shark face along the zip line. The shark face reads as a single figure across both grounds: black jaw outline, white teeth, eye surround tracking the ground colour shift across the split.

In darkness, the two halves do not behave the same way. The white-ground right half carries phosphorescent pigment across its entire printed surface -- both the ground and the camo blobs activate in darkness, producing a broad, even glow across the full right panel, right sleeve, and right side of the hood. The black-ground left half does not glow. In dark conditions, the garment reads as: one side dark and receding, one side actively emitting light. The yin-yang tonal opposition that exists in daylight becomes a dark-and-light-source opposition in the dark.

Machine-printed camo on a custom fabrication. The print quality on the white ground shows the full tonal gradation of the grey blobs -- the slight warmth in the grey is the phosphorescent pigment at rest, visible as a faint warm cast in certain lighting conditions before activation.
